Career Opportunities

Our staff is comprised of full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions. Many of our staff began as volunteers and/or interns and eventually came to work at the museum. Currently we have three full-time staff, and seven part-time staff. Our seasonal staff helps during the summer when tourist traffic is increased (generally the second week of June into the third week of August).

All full-time and part-time employees have regular schedules that operate year-around. The museum closes annually the third week of December until the first Tuesday in March.

Internships

Undergraduate and graduate internships are a partnership between the Laramie Plains Museum and the University of Wyoming Museum Studies department. Though we occasionally have interns from other department. Interns work on assignments related to curatorial tasks, that may include administratives work, special projects, and research. Occassionaly there are preservation opportunities. Projects are dependent on curatorial’s needs and an intern’s skills and interests, but is always at the discretion of the curator or the direct supervisor.

These internships are for academic credit and must be initiated through the University.
